Conflict Management, Interpersonal Communication, And...

The reading of this forum presented concepts of conflict management, interpersonal communication, and motivational theories and their significance to the overall success of an organization. As we dig deeper into the material for leadership and management, the shining theme throughout our readings has been self-less leadership (Satterlee, 2013). This week, we focused on the importance of interpersonal communication, and conflict management. Owner, leaders, and managers must understand the importance of communication especially if any conflict may arise. Leaders and managers must understand the parties at the center of the conflict to minimize and properly manage conflict (McKibben, 2017). Interpersonal Communication The success of an individual and their organization depends on how well they manage interpersonal communication (Dreu, Evers, Beersma, Klewer, Nauta, 2001). Interpersonal communication can be described as the inner workings of the own personal character and the way that individuals deal with each other in the workplace. When an individual understands themselves, and can manage their emotions and needs properly, then the entire organization will benefit. Interpersonal and organization communication is important for an organization to consider because communication creates a sense of trust, clarity, and collaboration within an organization. We all will have to communicate with others at one point or another. It is important for each member of the team to trust one another, and the best way to do that is to be open and honest with each other (The Johari Window).
